Tradition Golf Course at Treetops

The Tradition was originally designed at Treetops by Rick Smith to be a walkable golf course on a piece of rolling terrain that was much less severe than the 4 courses previously designed at Treetops.  Smith spent time in Ireland and Scotland to gain inspiration for this build as well as his first design, the award-winning Signature.  Rick’s goal with the Tradition was to take us back to the roots of golf with the characteristics of a Links course but on an inland setting.  The Tradition will enjoy its 25^th year in operation this year and many of the trees and vegetation have grown to a point in which the course is beginning to lose the characteristics from the original vision.  Thus, in 2022, we are thrilled to unveil the new and improved Tradition as hundreds of trees have been removed to begin the process restoring this course back to a modern links course as originally intended.  Removing these trees is the first step in the process of creating an experience that will allow the course to come to life with subtly rolling fairways and native grasses now allowed to whisp in the prevalent wind no longer deterred by large trees. We look forward to welcoming you to Treetops this year to witness the restoration process for yourself.

Playing the Treetops Tradition Course

Many regulars consider Tradition to be the easiest course at Treetops. Wide, well-groomed fairways, fast greens that are visible from the tee box, and a fun layout offer a pleasurable round. In other words, Tradition won’t beat you up like some other courses (we’re looking at you, Masterpiece). The hole design is varied and challenging, but you won’t see the massive elevation changes encountered at our other courses.
