Built in 1993, Signature was the first of three Rick Smith-designed courses at Treetops. Smith drew upon his knowledge of Scottish and Irish golf courses to develop his Signature design. The course has won numerous accolades, including making Matt Ginella’s list of Top 50 Courses You Can Play in the US.

Playing the Signature Course at Treetops

The Signature course is a favorite among locals and out-of-town visitors alike and is widely believed to have the most challenging greens on the property. You’ll find fast bentgrass greens, but pay attention because you will not always know when you’re putting up or downhill. Even if you’re a scratch golfer, you may leave Signature with a higher score than you’re used to.

Signature Pro Tip: Pay close attention to the sloped greens, and putt with patience

The Signature layout is phenomenal; you’ll find tremendous variety from hole to hole. Number 13 in particular is one of the most challenging holes on the property, with 420 yards from the blue tees and uphill all the way.

Signature is located at Treetops North, which is approximately a 10-minute ride from the main resort.

Signature Reviews

“Treetops is a great golf course if you want beautiful scenery with some good golf… We played the Signature, a fav of ours, but there are 4 other courses that are all just as spectacular & challenging.”

- BikeNhike

“The Smith Signature course is arguably the most visually threatening yet enjoyable course at Treetops Resort. Best conditioned of the four 18-hole courses and perhaps the best course in the Gaylord area.”

- Bryan T.
